Early Childhood Development

Ripples for Change supports 212 ECD centres to ensure standardized, quality education through capacity building, nutrition programmes, mentorship and donation of goods.

Through our Nana Abantwana programme, we strive to improve upon early childhood development services at village level by mobilizing and strengthening existing centres and community structures.

Our programme supports 212 ECD centres in Tsholomnqa, Mooiplaas, Dimbaza, Stutterheim, Keiskammahoek and Newlands rural communities in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Centred on providing appropriate cognitive stimulation, nutrition, care and health services for pre-school children, we work with a number of initiatives that include:

training, support and mentorship of ECD practitioners
building upon toy and book libraries within each centre
coordinating donations of books, toys, food and furniture
introducing learning through play to parents
raising awareness and advocating the provision of quality ECD services in each village (Community of Practice)
