Change starts with one ripple
Ripples for Change is a grassroots non-profit organisation working with rural and underserved communities in the Eastern Cape and across South Africa.
We believe that meaningful change does not always start with a big solution.
Sometimes it starts with one person being given an opportunity, one child receiving the support they need to learn, one woman gaining the confidence and tools to build an income, or one young person discovering that their future can be bigger than they imagined.
These small changes can grow. One ripple can become many, and together they can create a wave of change.
Working alongside communities
Since 2017, we have worked alongside communities to identify challenges, develop practical solutions and create opportunities that can last beyond a project or funding cycle.
Our work focuses on areas that are closely connected to people's everyday lives, including early childhood development, youth employment, women’s economic empowerment, food security, STEM education, arts, and psychosocial support.
We work particularly in rural communities, where distance, poverty, limited services and lack of opportunities can make it harder for people to access the support and resources they need.

South Africa’s economy is heavily concentrated in its urban centres. Yet millions of people live in rural communities, where talent, ideas, natural resources and entrepreneurial potential are often underdeveloped simply because opportunities and investment are limited.
We see rural communities differently.
We don't see them as places defined by what they lack. We see places full of potential that has not yet had the opportunity to grow.
The question is not whether this potential exists. It is what happens when we invest in it.
